Do the names Bettie Page and David Berkowitz sound familiar? You may know them from experiences in their lives prior to becoming “born again” Christians. Is it possible that a pin-up model and a serial killer could proclaim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior? As you continue on, enjoy these awesome testimonies of salvation that you may never have heard of.

Bettie Page
In January 1955, Bettie Page was playmate of the month for the world famous Playboy magazine; she is one of the most notorious faces of the early pin-up era. What you may not know is that three years later, in 1958, she was saved on New Years Eve at a church service in Key West, Florida. From that day forward she dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She attended three different Bible colleges, the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, the Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon and a Christian camp known as “Bibletown”. She later became a missionary in Angola, Africa. She also worked for the evangelist, Billy Graham. She testified to overcoming depression, panic attacks, and angry tirades with the guidance of the Lord. She went from being a pornography queen to serving the King.

Before Christ

With Christ
Arrested in August of 1977, David Berkowitz confessed to the police and was charged for the murder of six people and severely injuring another seven in the span of eight shootings. He was formerly known as the “Son of Sam” and the “.44 Caliber Killer” serial killer. Not only did he receive salvation during is sentence in prison (in 1987), but he is now also a pastor at Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, New York. After being saved by the blood of Christ, he took full responsibility for his actions. He has denied every one of his parole hearings stating “In all honesty, I believe that I deserve to be in prison for the rest of my life. I have, with God’s help, long ago come to terms with my situation and I have accepted my punishment.” He says he reached salvation through reading Psalms 34:6 “This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.” (NKJV), from a Gideon Bible that was given to him by a fellow inmate. He was once brutally attacked in prison which left a wound that required 52 stitches; he wouldn’t reveal who attacked him because he said he had already forgiven the attacker. He’s already begun writing his memoirs that are stated to be published by Morning Star. All proceeds are going to his victim’s families. God made a miraculous turn around in this man’s life, and Jesus can do it for anyone.
You never who you may see in heaven. God can pull anyone up from their lowest point– He is an almighty redeemer and can forgive you of all your sins. It doesn’t matter what your past looks like when Jesus is your future. If you would like accept Jesus Christ, just ask Him to come into your heart. It couldn’t be any simpler.
