  Cynthia Hovver rescued

Cynthia Hoover rescued

by Justin Collins

While driving on a mountain road near Central City, Colorado, 68 year old Cynthia Hoover lost control of her vehicle after swerving to avoid hitting a herd of deer on the road. Her vehicle rolled off the cliff and down into a 350-foot ravine. She stayed stranded on the side of the ravine for nearly a week.Cynthia broke eleven ribs, cracked her vertebrae and punctured her lung. She says that thoughts of her family motivated her to stay alive.

She grabbed a golf club from her car to use as a cane to help her make the climb up the slope toward civilization, but was so badly injured that she couldn’t make it all the way. She turned around and headed back downhill. She survived 5 days by drinking the water that was collected in her hair. Since her car rolled too far from the highway, and Cynthia traveled for work alone frequently, nobody realized the accident had occurred, or reported Cynthia missing. The moisture from a cold front of rain, sleet, and hail in the area proved to be life-sustaining;  she sucked the water that collected in her hair to keep from becoming completely dehydrated during her ordeal.

With God’s grace, she managed to crawl 450 feet away from a mining operation and attracted the attention of the workers by calling out, who were only there by coincidence, since the mine was supposed to be shut down for the day. They found her with a swollen face and a mouth full of dirt from dragging herself with her face on the ground. She was airlifted to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, but has since been downgraded to fair condition. Long hair can be useful for more than just beauty; God used Cynthia’s hair to save her life!
